WSP is currently initiating a search for a Risk & Commercial Manager for our CHICAGO office. Be involved in projects with our Project Controls & Technology Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Job Duties:
- Knowledge of project control standards and framework (e.g., AACE International, Project Management Institute), and experience of risk management and analysis in a major portfolio/program environment, operating as the client’s representative.
- Understanding of transportation & infrastructure engineering design requirements and project delivery processes.
- Manage and coordinate work for the project controls team covering matters related to the estimating, risk, cost, contracts and change management for allocated projects and within the business.
- Ability and skills to be the subject matter expert and provide oversight and training for project change management including establishing performance measurement baselines, project change request processes, project contingency drawdown and revising baselines for performance reporting.
- Ability and skills to advocate the incorporation of risk management in the implementation of new systems, processes, and changes to existing systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance to Contractual requirements and fulfilment of all Contractual deliverables.
- Create, implement, and execute project controls, cost, and risk & contingency management plans to support contract requirements and the successful execution of project controls supporting project and WSP commercial interests.
- Review and Prepare monthly Interim Payment Certificates and ensure timeous invoicing.
- Actively participate in mitigating potential claims and variation orders and where they do arise.
- Develop and forecast staffing plans and cost projections for specific projects.
- Develop or refine Project Financial Plans for submittal to funding agencies consistent with the project's needs and industry best practices.
- Work with project teams to support on-going risk management functions, including risk identification, impact analysis (qualitative / quantitative) response planning, and monitoring / control.
- Develop and maintain project and/or program risk registers with input from project and client team members.
- Establish qualitative and quantitative risk modeling parameters based on project cost and schedule information.
- Work with project teams to determine appropriate contingency and schedule reserve amounts.
- Facilitate risk management workshops, meetings, interviews and discussions both internally and with external clients.
- Support project team decision making and reporting through timely information and tracking of risk register actions and critical risk identification.
- Review project documents for consistency with project/program risk registers and resolve issues.
- Ability to perform as the system administrator for the Risk Management Information System including user and metadata management.
- Develop and maintain a Project Earned Value Management System (EVMS) database, to measure progress and calculate performance metrics, analyze, and report variances to plan based on predetermined variance thresholds.
- Accept and help facilitate change by understanding desired outcomes; assist project managers with developing change management strategies.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel as required.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Project Management experience, PMP, PMI-RMP preferred.
- 10 years’ experience in Project Controls, Risk & Commercial Management, Finance, Scheduling including experience leading a team of professionals.
- Transportation, Rail and Construction industry preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of commercial/contract management software , cost risk analysis software (i.e., @Risk, Crystal Ball etc.) and schedule risk analysis software (i.e., Primavera Risk Analysis, Acumen etc.).
- Confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, fulfill assigned commitments in a timely manner within established budgets and quality standards.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.
- Attention to detail and organization while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members, contractors, and clients.
- Skilled at building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize workload and deliverables.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint,
- Proficient in InEight Construction & Project Management Software Preferred.
