Who We’re Looking For
A successful Revenue Controller is a financial professional primarily responsible for overseeing the entire revenue cycle within a company, ensuring accurate and timely billing, cash collections, proper revenue recognition, and compliance with accounting standards, by closely monitoring transactions, contract terms, and client accounts, often collaborating with operations and compliance teams to optimize revenue collection and minimize risks; essentially acting as a key link between operations and finance. Is a trusted advisor to the Controller and the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:Your responsibilities in this role may include:
Revenue Recognition and Billing and Accounts Receivable:
- Reviewing contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition according to accounting standards.
- Manage the billing team, ensuring accurate coding and claim submission for all patient services according to healthcare regulations and contracts
- Monitor claim denials and rejections, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to reduce outstanding receivables.
- Analyzing complex deal structures to determine appropriate revenue timing and amounts.
- Develops policies, guidelines, and implementing procedures and ensures consistent company-wide implementation.
- Monitoring and managing revenue deferrals and accruals.
- Monitors effectiveness of collection efforts and maintains insurance billings are current within the established time frame specified in the department policy.
- Managing the billing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing along with building relationships with all levels of operations and external funders.
- Identifying and resolving billing discrepancies.
- Monitoring outstanding receivables and implementing collection strategies.
Grant Management:
- Identifying potential grant opportunities and work with grants team on the grant application process, including budget development.
- Monitoring grant compliance requirements and reporting on project deliverables to funders.
- Tracking grant funding timelines and ensuring timely submission of reports.
- Ensure grant specific invoicing and cash receipts completed accurately and timely.
System and Process Improvement:
- Evaluate existing revenue cycle systems and identify opportunities for automation and process streamlining.
- Collaborate with IT to implement new revenue cycle management software and upgrades.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and receivable reports for management.
- Analyzing trends and identifying potential revenue risks and identify trends and provide insight to leadership.
- Performing variance analysis between budgeted revenue and actual results.
- Monitor census and utilization of programs compared to budget and projections.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls to safeguard revenue and billing.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards. contracts and funding regulations.
- Conducting periodic revenue audits and reviews.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Working closely with operation teams to address billing inquiries and all billing related complexities.
- Collaborating with operations and legal teams on contract review and revenue recognition implications.
Partnering with operations teams to streamline billing processing and revenue cycle management through appropriate workflows.

Qualifications:Education/Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited College or University is required; CPA license is a plus
Experience:
Minimum of eight(8) years of experience in an accounting position with at least three (3) years supervisory experience
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly revenue recognition standards
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health care management such as but not limited to clinic management, patient management, accounts receivables and payables, and marketing and public relations.
- Expertise in financial analysis and reporting
- Proven experience in contract review and interpretation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record systems and financial software
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
- Must be able to work independently
- Strong project management skills
