Job Summary: This is a unique accounting role that requires technical accounting competence as well as strong business partnership and critical thinking skills. This role will provide an opportunity to exercise your savvy accounting knowledge to optimize business and financial outcomes, while being heavily involved in the monthly GL close cycle.
Review contracts with customers for revenue accounting treatment and draft accounting memos and writeups in accordance with ASC 606.
Review lease contracts for lease accounting analysis and draft technical accounting memos and documentation in accordance with ASC 842.
Work with key business partners (i.e. sales, real estate, corporate development, and FP&A teams) to analyze the accounting impact and advise deal structure of large, complex revenue and leasing transactions.
Act as a liaison between technical accounting team and accounting operations teams to ensure accurate accounting for sophisticated revenue and lease transactions, including M&A activities.
Perform month-end close activities including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis for certain revenue related GL accounts (e.g. Allowance for doubtful accounts, Allowance for unrealizable revenue, etc.); investigate and resolve variances where vital.
Prepare ASC 606/ASC related disclosures on a quarterly basis for Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting.
Prepare and implement SOX controls and ensure SOX compliance at all time; Support external and internal audits, including preparing working papers for the auditors and analyzing data.
Perform ad hoc projects as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting and/or equivalent experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and analytical approach with high attention to detail.
3+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
Prior experience in revenue or lease accounting is a plus.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Experience with Oracle R12, Hyperion and RevPro revenue management tool preferred.
MS Office Suite skills are required.
