Job Title: Area Supervisor
Department: Operations
Reports To: Store Manager
General Description: The Area Supervisor is responsible for the merchandising and replenishment functions as well as customer service for a specific area of the store.
Essential Job Functions include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Responsible for setting up displays for advertised items as well as using plan-o-gram to merchandise assigned to area by displaying products on gondolas, H-frames, shelves, floors, displays and/or end caps while using various machines and lifts.
- Assists partners in assigned area with merchandise replenishment as needed.
- Trains store personnel in all areas of sales, product knowledge, and customer service per company policy and sales training programs.
- Works with Store Manager, vendors and buyers concerning merchandise replenishment problems.
- Ensure that merchandise in assigned area has been properly "signed" with the correct information concerning each product.
- Provides courteous service to all customers by offering friendly greeting, determines needs, demonstrates or explains product, and provides physical assistance with large or heavy merchandise as requested by customer.
- Visits competition and completes Competitive Shopping Report.
- Opens and closes store as assigned.
- Assists with cash balancing
- With Assistant Manager, continually evaluates all partners in assigned area, and assists in the formal annual performance appraisal.
- Maintains safety and security procedures for both partners and customers according to company policies and procedures.
- Reviews, sets and maintains standards for displays, in-stock items, pricing, marking and merchandise inventory for assigned area with the Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities:
Job Duties must perform the following duties to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:
- Ensures daily housekeeping standards are met.
- Follows defective merchandise procedures as outlined in company policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation and taking of the physical inventory by organizing, counting and verifying quantities of merchandise.
- Operates cash register as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
