Your Impact
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Sales Director to spearhead the expansion of our TASER consumer product line into national and regional retailers. This is a high-impact role with the potential to shape the future of our company. You will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, building strong retailer relationships, and driving revenue growth. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, start up-like environment, requiring an entrepreneurial mindset and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude.
What You'll Do
Location: Hybrid Onsite Presence based at our US Hubs - Scottsdale, Seattle, Boston, Washington, DC, Denver, San Francisco, or Atlanta (2-3 days per week onsite)
Reports to: VP/GM of Axon Civilian
Direct Reports: None - This is an individual Contributor role.
- Develop and execute sales strategies: Create and implement comprehensive sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share within key retail channels.
- Build and manage retailer relationships: Establish and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers at national and regional retailers, particularly Walmart, Academy Sports + Outdoors and Bass Pro Shops.
- Secure new retail accounts: Identify and acquire new retail partners to expand distribution channels and reach new customer segments.
- Manage existing accounts: Optimize performance within existing accounts by collaborating with buyers on assortment planning, planogram development, and promotional activities.
- Drive sales growth: Utilize a deep understanding of retail sales drivers to develop and execute effective promotional programs, including co-op advertising, in-store displays, and online marketing initiatives.
- Negotiate trading terms: Secure favorable trading agreements with retailers, including pricing, allowances, and payment terms.
- Analyze sales data: Track and analyze sales performance, identify trends, and provide insights to inform sales strategies and optimize product placement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with internal teams (marketing, product, operations, finance) to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives and product launches.
- Stay ahead of the curve: Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging retail technologies.
- Travel: Up to 25% of the time
What You Bring
- Proven track record: 10+ years of experience in retail sales or related retail operations & marketing, with a demonstrated history of success in selling consumer products to national and regional retailers.
- Strong retailer relationships: Existing relationships with key buyers at Walmart, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bass Pro Shops, Sportsman's Warehouse, Rural King, etc. are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of retail operations: Familiarity with retail buying cycles, planogram management, EDI processes, and retail marketing best practices.
- Data-driven approach: Proficient in analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities.

- Hands-on mentality: Willing to take ownership of all aspects of the sales process, from initial outreach to ongoing account management.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD $115,695 in the lowest geographic market and USD $185,112 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
