Purpose of Your Job Position
This type of director oversees the day-to-day activities of nursing home residents. In this role, you will design and schedule a calendar of activities (for example: bingo, religious services, book club, arts, and crafts) with the goal of keeping elderly residents engaged in their community. Ideally, activities foster socialization as well as hone residents' mental and physical capabilities. Besides managing the activities themselves, directors are often responsible for overseeing staff members who assist with the activities' creation and implementation. You are responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care for patients of all ages including adult and geriatric, as applicable. You must be competent to access and analyze patient information and history with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process. Accepts and promotes professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. Coordinate patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship. Directs and coordinates the care given by Certified Nursing Assistants, (C.N.A.’s), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s), and ancillary personnel. Performs all duties in a manner that supports the team concept, collegial, collaborative caring, and respectful, reflecting the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Cordova Community Medical Center Mission Statement. Incumbent works under the direction of a Nurse Manager or designee, performing restorative nursing to promote resident's ability to adapt to more independent living, based on applicable laws as well as the policies and procedures of the Douglas County Health Center (DCHC)
Essential Functions
Assist patients/residents with activities of daily living (ADL's), personal hygiene and other related needs.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, other agencies, and the public.
Monitor patients/residents’ response to restorative nursing and inform nurses of resident progress, changes in condition or other issues.
Ensure all documentation (e.g., vital signs, ADL cares, restorative care, dietary intake, etc.) is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Encourage patients/residents to actively participate in their restorative program.
Provide teaching and demonstration to patients/residents on the use of assistive devices.
Maintain a sanitary and safe environment for patients/residents.
Ensure appropriate supplies are available and report any malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
Adhere to infection control protocols (e.g., using gloves, protective clothing, hand washing, etc.) in all interactions with patients/residents.
Document and report any patient/resident issues (e.g., difficulty breathing, confusion, skin breakdown, irritation, bleeding, etc.) to supervisor in a timely manner.
Report any suspicion/allegation of neglect/abuse to your supervisor
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.
Maintain the confidentiality of all departmental information based on applicable rules and policies.
Report to work at assigned location with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
