JOB SUMMARY: The Utility position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of washable items (trays, bowls, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, etc.) and dish room area in order to maintain the hotel's standards of quality and sanitation. Helps with set up/tear down for functions in catering department as well as general cleaning duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing machines and manual methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and equipment.
• Practice “clean as you go” method to maintain all areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables. Ensure garbage bins are emptied regularly and kept clean.
• Help with receiving and storing kitchen supplies and food deliveries. Ensure items are properly labeled and stored.
• Assist serving staff with clearing and cleaning tables in the dining area, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and glassware are promptly removed and taken to the kitchen for washing.
• Work closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel to ensure efficient operations offering support where needed to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Adhere to all hotel policies, health and safety regulations, and food handling guidelines.
• Attend meetings/training as required by management.
• Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Satisfactory criminal background screening required - Valid driver’s license and safe driving record may be required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for entire shift, balance, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, smell, taste and perform repetitive motions that require manual dexterity.
This position requires the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. The employee is required to have visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate machinery and tools, determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of food and make general observations of facilities. This position is primarily indoors and may subject the employee to high or cold temperatures from machinery and moderate noise level.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position requires variable hours based on the needs of the hotel including nights and weekends.
