Position Summary
Serve food and upsell drinks and restaurant specials in a professional manner. Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service by suggestively selling menu items, taking drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert orders. Receive payment from services rendered. Ensure guests are satisfied with their dining experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greet guests, introduce specials of the day, explain the menu using concise and articulate language. Listen and respond to questions.
- Serve assigned tables as determined by management.
- Pick up and deliver orders on a tray (weighing up to 20 lbs) to guests within a timely manner.
- Ensure the accuracy of all orders.
- Ensure products are in compliance with food and company standards.
- Return the table throughout guest's visit to ask if they are satisfied, check for refills, and clear miscellaneous items from the table.
- Deliver checks promptly to the line so orders can be prepared within a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge of restaurant's food and beverage preparation.
- Enter and complete customers' orders on computer system. Accept different types of payment and make change.
- Maintain cleanliness of all tables.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations during working hours and perform weekly maintenance.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Comply with State laws for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Check identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages; politely refuse to serve beverages to guests who are not of legal age.
- Function as host when needed.
- Perform service duties for other servers, at times, by picking up food and drink orders when ready and providing assistance to other tables as necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, use a calculator, and make change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
- Ability to approach all encounters with guests and team members in attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot liquids. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
