We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our team as Restaurant General Manager. The Restaurant General Manager is a proactive solution seeker, they lead by example, don’t settle for the normal, and continuously encourage and engage their team members. They will provide the strategic leadership required to achieve the fiduciary and quality goals for the restaurant operation. The Restaurant Manager will ensure the effective and efficient operation of all facets of the food and beverage operation, while improving on the current model and be responsible for managing in a manner consistent with the mission, operating philosophy, standards, and values of the Benchmark and Wayfinder Newport. This position will oversee all front of house associates for the three outlets on property, Nomi Park Restaurant and Bar, B-Side café, and Pool Shack bar, as well as banquet operations. The focus will be on the restaurant but oversight on the other outlets is necessary as well.
While Nomi Park lives within the Wayfinder Newport hotel it is more than a hotel restaurant. We are the local hangout where people from all over Aquidneck Island come to enjoy great food, excellent service and a great time. With weekly reoccurring events that keep guests coming back and great local specials, we are the place for locals to gather in Newport.
Your Role:
- Develop restaurant weekly, monthly and annual programs. Work in conjunction with the Sales team and other hotel departments to execute these programs.
- Attend weekly meetings, relaying information about upcoming events to staff under his/her supervision.
- Supply information about the restaurant and other outlets’ capabilities and programs to other departments and clients or potential clients.
- Respond to needs and requests of guests and potential guests. Provide service that exceeds guest expectations and train the front of house associates to do the same.
- Ensure that implementation and maintenance of standards of food, beverage and service quality are commensurate with a first-class operation.
- Ability to innovate in menu offerings, service enhancements, or promotional events.
- Implement effective cost controls for beverage and labor.
- Must be able to understand, read and explain profit & loss statements, labor reports, cost reductions, including labor.
- Develop workable systems for inventory, receiving and product utilization (product cost).
- Develop standards of productivity for food & beverage personnel.
- Responsible for implementation and training of company-wide systems, such as Toast POS as well as others.
- Create a comfortable atmosphere to encourage committed and loyal employees.
- Oversee hiring and training programs for food and beverage personnel.
- Develop management skills in employees.
- Oversee weekly payroll for department.
- Assist in the other departments and outlets in whatever capacity is needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and self driven with a professional demeanor and the ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to service excellence.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Food and Beverage Management experience, with a focus on restaurant management
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, business, or related field with a focus on food and beverage management preferred
- Certification in Food Safety such as ServSafe certification
- Proven Experience in Food and Beverage Management: Demonstrated success in managing front of house restaurant operations, ensuring high standards of quality, customer service, and operational efficiency.
- Strong Background in Customer Service: Proven ability to meet or exceed customer expectations, resolve complaints, and create positive dining experiences
- Knowledge of Beverage Service and Trends: Deep understanding of the latest beverage trends, including craft cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic options.
- Customer-Oriented Approach: Strong focus on providing excellent customer service, with attention to detail and anticipating guests' needs.
- Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, order management software, MS Office, etc.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate, guide, develop, and empower a diverse team
- Keen eye for maintaining quality control, cleanliness, and consistency in food and service standards.
- Knowledge of local health, safety, and licensing regulations to ensure full compliance in food safety operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
