Respiratory Therapy Service Aide is responsible for supporting the overall operations of the Respiratory Care Department on both campuses. The Respiratory Therapy Service Aide is responsible for supply inventory and ordering, stocking the main storeroom and satellites. Delivers and removes respiratory care equipment to ensure adequate supply and preventive maintenance. Assists respiratory therapists in ensuring they have the appropriate equipment to provide patient care. Responsible for ventilator and non-invasive ventilator fleet including availability, cleaning, set up, operational verification, and distribution.

- 1. Assists in medical equipment supply management with Respiratory Care Leadership to ensure adequate supply at all times
- 1.1 Rounds in all dirty utility rooms, and other areas, frequently throughout shift for respiratory care equipment and returns equipment to appropriate area
- 2. Assists therapists with patient care including but not limited to responding to requests for emergency medical equipment, supplies and other diagnostic and therapeutic tools to ensure an efficient and orderly process.
- 2.1 Ensures transport ventilators are set up correctly with gas supply and connectors and correct par levels of transport ventilators are maintained in each area as observed by supervisor or therapist.
- 3. Disinfects and sets up equipment, ventilators, and non invasive devices, including completion of necessary pre-use tests when necessary. Maintains equipment and the respiratory care work areas to ensure efficient operations. Completes all related paperwork when appropriate.
- 3.1 Maintains the environment of care per regulatory requirements, in department work areas on a daily basis i.e. tidies satellite, storage areas and cleans refrigerators, wipes counter tops, etc.
- 4. Communicates effectively and appropriately with Respiratory Care Team
- 4.1 Communicates with Respiratory Care Leadership on daily responsibilities including but not limited to, ventilator par levels, equipment supplies and par levels, regulatory environment of care of work areas
EDUCATION
High school graduation or equivalent experience and/or training. Current enrollment in a Respiratory Care Program preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Current enrollment in a CoARC approved Respiratory Care Program OR Six (6) months experience in similar job in a healthcare setting, plus computer experience with Electronic Medical Records. Inventory experience, computing accurate arithmetic totals, direct patient care experience preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Ability to make arithmetic computations with accuracy and moderate speed. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Pushing and pulling of Respiratory Care equipment to patient care units. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
