Per Diem - Respiratory Therapist Trainee
8:00am-12:00pm or 12:00pm-4:00pm Monday-Friday
Summary:
Responsible for clinical evaluation of patient and delivery of respiratory care as required under the supervision a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Responsibilities:
Independently administers pharmacologic and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, or a diagnostic regimen prescribed by a physician. Obtains arterial blood gases.
Independently administers basic oxygen therapy. Confers with licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner for advanced oxygen therapy such as high flow nasal cannula.
Confers with a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in developing and implementing an appropriate care plan based on patient assessment by utilizing respiratory protocols to optimize patient outcomes, in collaboration with healthcare team.
Confers with a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner for mechanical ventilation. Assists in maintaining stock of equipment and supplies, including the performance of pre-use checks on mechanical ventilators.
Observes and monitors signs and symptoms, general behavior, general physical response to respiratory care treatment to determine whether abnormal characteristics are exhibited.
Promotes continuous learning and expands expertise by engaging in and seeking opportunities to develop self and others as a member of the team.
Works efficiently as a team member both within and across clinical settings to provide quality service within the hospital setting through communication, cooperation and collaboration.
Demonstrates competence, including knowledge and behaviors, to meet age specific patients� needs in a specialty area.
Participates in additional training and/or certification courses to develop expertise and skills toward certification as a RRT.
Education:
Pursuing an Associates or Bachelors Degree from an AMA approved Respiratory program. New graduate or within 2 months of graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program.

Licensure, Certification, Registration Required:
Current Basic Life Support, CPR
