Job Description
- Perform set-up, operation and monitoring of ventilator when resident’s respiratory system is incapable of adequate spontaneous ventilation
- Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of residents with airway needs as required.
- Receive/give report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours if assuming a direct care assignment.
- Provide Oxygen Therapy; tank, tent, mask, cannula, walker, high flow, etc. respiratory care.
- Coughing and deep breathing instruction and exercises and related maneuvers including, Incentive Spirometry.
- Aerosol Therapy; Bland and Medicated, Metered dose, Ambient, Ultrasonic, Sputum Induction.
- Chest therapy.
- IPPB, CPAP, and BiPAP Therapy
- Airway maintenance as to oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
- ABG interpretation and analysis.
- Consult with the physician and follow protocols for ventilator management including weaning, decannulation, and terminal weaning.
- Perform assessment of the patient, determining needs related to the frequency and duration of the treatment regime ordered by the MD.
- Request re-order when necessary and communicates with nurse and MD about discrepancies and concerns.
- Initiate and follow through with protocols described in the policy and procedure manual and as approved by the department and medical/pulmonology director.
- Interpret the respiratory department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
Requirements
Must Have an active and valid Respiratory Therapist License
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Available shifts:
6:00am - 6:30pm
6:00pm - 6:30am
