Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Performs diagnostic testing of cardiovascular and pulmonary system to aide physicians in diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders. Demonstrates competence in working with neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Participates in performance improvement and CIC activities.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
v Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
v Current Registration and Licensure in the State of Iowa as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
v Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
v Current ACLS certifications. (New employees should obtain per guidelines of the Education Course Requirements policy.)
v Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
v High degree of empathetic listening skills, tact and kindness toward others.
v Ability to communicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team.
v Basic computer knowledge
v Technical and critical thinking skills.
v Knowledge of all therapeutic modalities relating to Respiratory Care.
