Job Summary: As a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill newborns in our NICU. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the respiratory needs of our tiny patients are met. This position requires expertise in neonatal respiratory care, advanced equipment operation, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:

13 week assignment
36 hrs
12 hr day/night rotation with weekends and holidays in rotation with staff
BLS, ACLS, NBRC, RRT or CRT, & PALS required, NRP preferred
Active ND license
ICU experience required
NICU & PICU experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:
- Respiratory Assessment: Perform thorough assessments of neonatal patients' respiratory status, including monitoring vital signs, evaluating lung function, and assessing oxygenation levels.
- Ventilation Support: Set up and manage mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices for neonatal patients, adjusting settings as needed to optimize respiratory function.
- Surfactant Administration: Administer surfactant therapy to premature infants as prescribed by physicians.
- Neonatal Resuscitation: Participate in neonatal resuscitation efforts and provide airway management during high-risk deliveries.
- Medication Administration: Administer respiratory medications and therapies, such as bronchodilators and inhaled medications, following established protocols.
- Collaborative Care: Collaborate closely with NICU nurses, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for neonatal patients.
- Patient Education: Educate parents and caregivers on neonatal respiratory care techniques, equipment, and home care instructions.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and quality assurance standards in all respiratory therapy procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations in the NICU, providing immediate respiratory support and assistance as needed.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification preferred.
- BLS and NRP certifications required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in neonatal respiratory therapy.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting neonatal respiratory equipment.
