Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team in a Long-Term Post-Acute Care facility. In this role, you will provide respiratory care and therapy to patients recovering from acute illnesses, surgeries, or injuries, and those with chronic respiratory conditions requiring extended care. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans, provide ventilator management, assist with weaning patients off mechanical ventilation, and offer critical patient and family education. This position requires proficiency in managing respiratory care for patients in a long-term care setting, including educating families on ventilator use, oxygen therapy, and home care management.
Duties
- Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status by checking vital signs and conducting pulmonary function tests.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, including oxygen therapy and nebulizer treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide emergency medical interventions as needed, particularly in critical care situations.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and home care practices.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments administered.
- Stay current with advancements in respiratory therapy practices and protocols.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), licensed as per state regulations
- 2+ years of experience in post-acute care or 4+ years of experience in acute care
- Perform tracheostomy management, including suctioning, cleaning, changing of tracheostomy tubes, and providing patient and family education on tracheostomy care and maintenance.
- Create and manage plan of care and follow protocols created by medical professionals team
Plusses:
- Ventilator Management: Manage and troubleshoot ventilators for patients requiring assisted or mechanical ventilation, ensuring proper settings and adjustments based on patient needs.
- Experience in training patients and families on ventilator use, including educating them on the operation, safety, and maintenance of ventilators, as well as emergency procedures and transitioning to home care.
Shifts:
- 2 night openings
- 1 day opening
36 hours - 3x12 hours
7am-7:30pm or 7pm- 7:30am
6 week schedules & on call for 2 shifts of 4 hours
