Position Summary
Bring your fundraising experience, creative ideas, and passion for helping others to our Development Team! This position is a terrific opportunity for the qualified candidate to engage in a broad range of fundraising and marketing activities at United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut. An essential team member reporting to the Director of Corporate Engagement, the Development Manager will provide stewardship, research, and database support to the annual fundraising campaign, and assume responsibility for a personal portfolio of accounts. The manager will serve as a brand ambassador for our non-profit’s mission, work, and community impact--both internally and externally.
Essential Functions:
Corporate Fundraising and Engagement
- With the team, help manage fundraising campaigns and related events, including setting goals, developing campaign strategies and materials, supporting corporate campaign volunteers, and planning/attending corporate campaign meetings and events. Will require occasional presentations of United Way goals and impact to corporate partners.
- Support the Development Team and Events Manag in expanding, designing and executing volunteer events to engage corporate donors in ways that meet their company goals.
- Cultivate and manage a portfolio of new and existing corporate and small business sponsors to meet or exceed agency revenue goals.
- Cultivate relationships with Chambers of Commerce and local civic organizations to identify qualified donors or campaign leads.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to publish campaign-related content for web and social media.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Engagement.
Relationship Management
- Manage the cultivation and stewardship of current and prospective corporate partners, donors, sponsors, and small businesses.
- Responsible for overseeing timely donor recognition and appreciation.
- Assist with the research, prospecting, and outreach for current and new partners.
- Participate in community activities that contribute to acquiring and retaining individual donors.
Events
- Provide staff support to RD team and volunteer committees to plan and execute all related programs and events, as needed.
- Help secure event sponsorships.
Data Management and Technology
- Resident expert on customer relationship management system (CRM) and workplace giving platforms, responsible for ongoing, up-to-date entry of donation data. Help monitor and report on campaign results.
- Help mine database for insights into current donors and recommend solicitation strategies.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team on workplace-giving technology platforms, including building, and updating company sites, uploading employee databases, and more.
Required Experience and Education
- BA/BS degree and 3-5 years of fundraising experience and volunteer management.
- Team player with a can-do attitude and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and follow-up.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
- High degree of professional integrity to deal ethically with confidential information.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with CRM systems, giving platforms, and Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Valid driver’s license and use of an insured motor vehicle.
