Residential Support Specialist Overview
The Residential Support Specialist (RSS) is an administrative and clinical supervisor for the residential home and is responsible to assist the Program Manager in the clinical and administrative operations of the home. The RSS will assist the Program Manager with the training and implementation of the clinical behavioral interventions and teaching strategies for individuals in the residential setting. The RSS will assist the Program Manager to ensure that all requirements are met for acquiring and maintaining all applicable licenses, certifications and accreditations. The RSS will assist with the supervision of assigned residential home.
Schedule and Salary Information
- Sunday 7a-11p; Monday – Wednesday 2p-10p
- Starting Rate: $21.50/hour (+) based on years of direct relevant experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; Minimum requirement of 50 College Credits.
- A valid US driver’s license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status.
- Ability to implement function-based interventions for the reduction of challenging behaviors. Experience in the principles and application of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Prefer at least one (1) year experience with specialized populations.
Residential Support Specialist Responsibilities
- Assists PM with ensuring documentation and notification to nursing, supervisor, QI, and AOC as indicated by policy.
- Assists PM with ensuring staff adheres to assigned level of supervision.
- Assists PM with ensuring use and maintenance of adaptive equipment and / or augmentative devices as needed.
- Assists PM with ensuring the completion of all daily documentation, as applicable (e.g., stool charts, body checks, behavior incident reports, and accident injury reports; including proper notifications).
- Assists PM with ensuring staff are attentive to and maintain resident hygiene, grooming and dressing needs (i.e., nails clipped, hair brushed, cloths clean and free of holes, dressed appropriately for weather conditions).
- Assists PM with ensuring compliance with Melmark’s medication administration policy and procedures.
- Assists PM with ensuring and adequate supply of household items, program materials and office supplies at all times.
- Assists PM with ensuring timely completion of all health and safety indicators. (e.g., fire drills, individual fire training, health and safety checklists, and van checklists).
- Assists PM with conducting team meetings with all employees assigned to that home (e.g., ABAC-R, RA) on assigned intervals and submits documentation of meetings including staff sign off and meeting agenda by due date.
- Assists PM in the oversight of the implementation of quality performance measures and standards for residential program. (e.g., accurate data collection, BSP and ISP implementation and reporting, program book organization and follow up on recommendations)
