Overview:
The Resident Lifestyle Coordinator plans, organizes, and carries out a program of activities, which will provide entertainment, intercommunication, exercise, relaxation, opportunity to express creative talent, and fulfill the basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs of our residents. The Resident Lifestyle Coordinator will be available to all residents as requested by the residents’ physicians, subject to their written restrictions and limitations. This includes activities within skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, Elements Wellness Centers programs, Trips & Travel programming, and volunteer coordination, as needed.
While a Coordinator is assigned to one campus as a primary work location, the duties include working at other campuses, as needed, and working collaboratively with other Resident Lifestyle Coordinators on programming and staff deployment.
Responsibilities:- Initiates and promotes a variety of activities both within and outside the facility to stimulate and promote resident interest, communication, and general wellbeing.
- Encourages hobbies and provides materials and supplies in keeping with each resident’s financial status and department budget.
- Encourages, instructs, and supervises craft activities among residents, in groups or individually, in recreational areas or in residents’ rooms.
- Complies with all safety regulations and policies.
- Plans parties, provide games and encourages residents to assist in the planning, such as making table decorations, wrapping gifts, trimming room or area, and other similar activities.
- Encourages residents to participate in religious activities to fulfill their basic spiritual needs, through visits with local ministers, attendance at religious services whenever possible, spiritual reading material, and others.
- Encourages intellectual/educational development through literature, lectures, movies, cultural events, and other activities available in the community.
- Develops a care plan with each resident for therapeutic interactions & leisure pursuits.
- Is responsible for the smooth operation of the resident council and its documentation.
- Completes performance appraisals as scheduled for direct report team members, as applicable.
- Provides ongoing feedback to team members regarding their performance, as applicable.
- Provides prompt and accurate response to staff, resident, and family inquiries for information while always honoring confidentiality.
- Reviews team members' documentation and provides guidance, support, and education where needed.
- As applicable, initiate and follow through with disciplinary action when necessary, including completion and presentation of proper forms.
- Work collaboratively with other Resident Lifestyle Coordinators to ensure all three campuses have proper coverage and programming, including coordination of work of Resident Lifestyle Specialists to meet the needs across all campuses for the greatest efficiency.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge and understanding of national wellness and activity trends. This includes a primary focus on fall prevention, chronic disease management, evidence-based programming, and preventative health
- Requisitions, and upon approval of Director, purchases supplies, equipment, and materials to carry out programs.
- Must maintain documentation of activities to meet all state and federal requirements.
- Is responsible for the appearance of the work area.
- Must be familiar with OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and Company’s Exposure Control policy.
- Create, maintain and manage volunteer groups.
- All other duties as assigned and/or appropriate to the position.
Education: High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Licenses or other required certifications: Must be a Licensed Occupational Therapist or an Occupational Therapy Assistant or possess a certification from a nationally recognized accredited body as a therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional (90-hour course).
Experience: Experience in leading and assisting with a variety of activities and programs with older adults, preferred.
