Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Resident Const Inspector for a contract position in Coral Gables, FL. The opportunity will be one year with a strong chance for a long-term extension.
Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional for an onsite project located in Miami, FL. This position is open to local candidates only, as no per diem or relocation is offered.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Review schedule updates for general construction logic, potential conflicts, and any activities or deliveries falling behind schedule.
- Evaluate contractor proposals for remedial actions to correct schedule problems.
- Monitor and report on the progress of work, seeking assistance from Client professional schedulers for unusual or difficult issues.
- Provide technical interpretation of construction drawings and specification requirements in conjunction with the project or resident engineer.
- Lead or assist in the interpretation/clarification process during construction, coordinating responses with project or resident engineer and engineering disciplines.
- Oversee the review, tracking, and distribution of contractor submittals from the site, coordinating with appropriate design disciplines for technical reviews.
- Interpret contract documents for QA/QC purposes.
- Evaluate change requests, claims, and cost proposals from contractors, coordinating responses with the project manager, and preparing change orders.
- Monitor and report on pertinent site conditions when contractors indicate unforeseen subsurface or other changed conditions.
- Manage the administration of project documentation, records, and reporting onsite.
- Assure accuracy and completeness of contractor's as-built records, collecting and forwarding them to the project engineer at the end of the project.
- Supervise and perform inspections as appropriate; schedule and witness field testing performed by others, including testing firms and field acceptance testing.
- Develop project construction punch lists for substantial and final completion.
- Coordinate and monitor quality assurance for all aspects and disciplines onsite for the project.
- Document field observations and serve as onsite liaison to owner and contractor.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and ethical standards in accordance with Division policies, standards, guides, and contractual commitments.
- Anticipate potential construction issues and work proactively with all parties to expedite solutions and mitigate negative impacts to the project.
- Review, resolve inaccuracies with contractors, and recommend contractor's payment requests to the owner.
- Assist with coordination of equipment startup operations and operator training, managing these activities when required.
- Coordinate with project engineer or startup specialists for process startups.
- Lead a team of inspectors and may supervise other field staff.
- Conduct pre-construction, weekly, monthly, and special construction meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree in a construction-related discipline or craft apprenticeship.
- Experience in soil and concrete testing.
- Water main line inspection or similar piping inspection experience.
- Certifications for concrete, compaction, and civil tests.
- Inspection certification.
