POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Camp Tipp is seeking an experienced camp professional to be a vital leader behind our summer camp, retreats, and outdoor education programs. The program director's position is always changing with the seasons. Winter and early Spring focus on staff and camper recruitment and program planning. Late spring - retreat groups and staff training. Summer- managing the summer camp programs and staff. And Fall - retreat groups, schools, marketing and evaluating / debriefing summer.
Camp Tippecanoe is unlike any other in Ohio. It's remote. It's huge (miles and miles of trails and shoreline). It's located in Ohio's Appalachian foothills - 45 minutes from a Walmart. It's set on Lake Clendening, a very undeveloped lake with 41 miles of shoreline. Compensation includes salary, healthy benefits package, and Y membership. The program director is expected to live onsite during the summer and if they choose to live here year-round - a 3-bedroom private residence is provided.
An ideal candidate should have: a college degree, a vision for creating positive impact on youth, previous management experience in a camp setting and have significant skills in one or more of the following areas: aquatics, equestrian (bonus points for western), high adventure, and / or farm & nature.
Salary: $38-42,000 + benefits | Housing: Yes - private | ACA Accredited
ABOUT CAMP:
YMCA Camp Tippecanoe is a branch within the YMCA of Central Stark County with an operating budget of $500,000 and has been providing opportunities for kids to learn and grow since 1958. Located on 600 acres nestled in Harrison County, YMCA Camp Tippecanoe provides the perfect atmosphere for the traditional resident camp for boys and girls ages 6-18. Campers enjoy the waterfront on Clendening Lake, miles of hiking trails, and plenty of rolling hills, along with an equestrian program, zipline structure, archery, and bb gun range, etc. YMCA Camp Tippecanoe is much more than a summer activity camp for kids; we are a place for values, learning, skill building, personal growth, fun, and adventure.
