Currently I have an opening for a Research Vivarium Husbandry Technician located in San Diego, CA. Details for the position are as follows:
Job Description:
- Cares for the animals used in research and development studies.
- Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records.
- Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for biosafety and biosecurity of the animals.
- May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.
- Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.
- Record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.
- Strictly follow all procedures necessary to maintain animal housing areas including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas.
- Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals; ensure and provide for sentinel animals in each rodent housing area.
- Recent/up and coming bachelors graduate with experience/comfortability in handling of animals and rodents.
Technical Information:
- 6-month contract with potential for extension or conversion to permanent
- Onsite, M-F, 6am-2:30pm
- Pay: $20-22 hourly, depending on experience level
