Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
The Nowosad lab at NYU Langone (https://med.nyu.edu/faculty/carla-r-nowosad) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual for a Research Technician role in the Mucosal B Cell Laboratory led by Dr. Nowosad, in the Department of Pathology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine..
The candidate will have the unique opportunity to work in a stimulating scientific environment as a part of the NYU Department of Pathology, Perlmutter Cancer Center, NYU Immunology Program, and Translational Immunology Center. There will be opportunities to participate in lab meetings and discussions, attend seminars and interact with lab members. Our lab is interested in how B cells function in the specialized microenvironment of the intestine in health and disease. We have multiple projects ongoing in the lab. These are all centered around how B cells make decisions in the intestine.
We are interested in how B cells, which mostly encounter harmless antigens from food and the microbiome, evolve and produce antibodies. Our projects build from prior work discovering that germinal centers form in response to commensal bacteria and undergo selection and improvement to these `harmless bugs. We now aim to understand how education in the intestinal microenvironment changes the behavior of B cells and fine-tunes them in a tissue-specific manner. We use many advanced techniques including imaging, in vivo mouse models, gnotobiotics and next generation sequencing.
