Job Profile Title

Research Specialist C





Job Description Summary

With minimal supervision, the candidate will be required to perform research experiments using biochemistry, molecular biology and tissue culture techniques. The candidate will also conduct in vivo experiments, perform minor surgical procedures on animals, and harvest tissues for various assays. Other necessary skills include the ability to document results, process and report data, order lab supplies and manage overall lab operating procedures. Additionally, the candidate will be required to supervise the junior technician, several students and fellows in the lab.





Job Description


Job Responsibilities

+ Independently plan and conduct experiments. Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of experimental design, results and interpretation. Present results in lab meeting.

+ Perform standard and advanced molecular biology techniques including RT PCR, transfections, primer design.

+ Perform surgical procedures on animals, including necropsies

+ Supervise students and trainees in animal genotyping, oversee mouse husbandry.

+ Perform standard assays including ELISA and Immunoblotting. Train students and other trainees in these standard assays.

+ Perform tissue culture, maintain cell lines

+ Perform and analyze flow cytometry experiments

+ Place orders, manage lab inventory



+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned





Qualifications





+ Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
