About the Job
The meaningful work you will be asked to do:
• Work on a team to develop bioreactor processes for monoclonal antibodies, or other protein-based therapeutics.
• Thoughtfully design and execute laboratory experiments related to cell culture and bio-process development. Focus on optimization and innovation in new cell-based materials and processes ensuring robust and reproducible cell growth and productivity.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, especially related to cell lines, aseptic techniques, and bioreactor operations.
• Clearly document experimental procedures, results, and findings. Maintain accurate records.
• Drive prototype technology and provide proof of concept experimental evaluations on process sampling, analysis and data interpretation. Contribute to the development of process analytical technology for bioprocess monitoring and control.
• Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and feed this information to develop next generation scientific instrumentation.
• Identify, champion, and develop new scientific ideas whilst advising on existing research and development activities.
Required Skills
• Ph.D. in Analytical Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biochemistry or Biomedical Engineering with 2+ years of equivalent industry experience in Biochemistry, or a related field or Master's degree with 6+ years' experience.
• Significant expertise in bioreactor mammalian cell culture fed-batch, perfusion technology or automated cell culture systems such Ambr.
• Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and analysis using statistical software packages (JMP, MATLAB, Python, etc.)
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational, collaborative, team leadership and networking skills. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to work on research projects.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and significant evidence of building good working relationships with collaborators, including biologists and/or biomedical researchers.
• Travel to our world headquarters in Massachusetts and customer visits are required.
• Waters is open to relocation for our talent.
Preferred skills
• Experience with commercial process development, characterization, and validation.
• Experience with high throughput cell culture (e.g. deep-well plate assays or robotics)
• Strength in data science, informatics, and/or automation
