Research Scientist, Necropsy/Histology, Preclinical Safety - Novartis
Cambridge, MA
About the Job
The Preclinical Safety group in NIBR is engaged in all phases of drug discovery and development and plays a critical role in moving these breakthroughs into patients.
You will be part of a team conducting the postmortem (ex vivo) aspects of preclinical safety studies in various laboratory animal species (mainly rats and mice). Your work will support the broad Novartis portfolio including oncology, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic disease with diverse technology platform including chemistry, biotherapeutics, RNAs, cell and gene therapy and radioligand therapy. You will be key to help bring these innovative medicines to patients. As such you will work closely with a group of curious and energized scientists.
You will be joining a larger group which offer many opportunities for growth and development in other areas of preclinical and investigative safety including cross training to execute the in vivo aspects of preclinical studies, molecular pathology techniques, digital pathology, image analysis and electron microscopy.
Your key responsibilities will include:
-Planning and conduct of full rodent necropsy and histology procedures.
-Investigative studies that include other cutting edge activities might be conducted including tissue collection and preparation for molecular pathology and transmission/scanning electron microscopy.
-Scanning slides for digital pathology analysis
-Participating in study planning meetings
-Arrange sample containers for necropsy and histology slides
