Responsibilities:New opportunity based in Billerica MA with the Bruker BioSpin EPR Spectroscopy Team for a Research Scientist to promote fundamental research aimed towards deeper understanding of physical processes in magnetic resonance applications and development of novel methods and technology.
- Advance the development of new technology for use in EPR applications and lead scientific research project activities.
- Conceptualize, design, build, and test, and implement new prototype products for EPR spectrometers.
- Collaborate with the EPR Probe R&D and Applications groups on technology and method development.
- Monitor and analyze experimental data acquired in an EPR experiment.
- Plan measurement and test techniques for product specification and qualification.
- Provide ongoing technical and troubleshooting support for Production Group.
- Ensure continual awareness of technical developments in the field including communication with customer and internal design groups, regular review of literature, attendance and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Prepare scientific publications and present results at international conferences.
- Some travel to trade shows and scientific conferences required.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineer, RF technology or equivalent scientific technology discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ technical work experience focused on magnetic resonance within a life sciences work environment.
- Extensive hands-on technical experience with instrumentation for magnetic resonance spectroscopy, RF test equipment, electromagnetic simulation, modeling software, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience leading scientific research projects.
- English language fluency with strong oral, interpersonal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills with clearly documented protocols, methods, results.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency and ability to utilize EPR, statistical and database software.
- Proficiency in mechanical design using CAD software.
- Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design using PCB design software.
- Capable of independent literature research, planning, evaluation and presentation of experiments and data.
- Proficiency at customizing computer platforms and methods for the extraction and transfer of data is required.
- Proven ability to build professional and collaborative global business relationships.
- Demonstrated capability, willingness and interest to learn sophisticated technology and software.
- Attend and actively participate in quarterly scientific technical training programs.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., transport equipment and tools in excess of 300 lbs.
- This position requires lifting heavy objects and maneuvering large bulky items (examples: tools, pumps, rigging equipment, power supplies).
- This position requires reasonable dexterity to perform manual functions in confined spaces.
- Proven ability to follow safety standards, practices, and codes.
- Operates with a high standard of ethics, integrity, and professionalism
- Ability to satisfactorily complete position training requirements
- Reliable transportation and valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
- Maintain a valid passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel.
- May be required to pass security clearance investigation.
