Our team in Microsoft Azure AI is working on cutting-edge ML models research to power Microsoft AI products and build it as a service to serve many external applications. The team is focused on applying deep learning techniques to solve AI problems such as conversational AI, question answering, and entity recognition to various customer-facing products. In addition, we work on customization and large-scale language models pre-training for AI services. We are a hybrid team at the intersection of research and product, with positions ranging from researchers and applied scientists to software engineers. Our team has the flexibility to tackle challenging and exciting research problems that are highly related to product requirements. Publication in top conferences as a byproduct is encouraged with lots of opportunities to collaborate with researchers, professors, and students from top universities, as well as mentoring summer interns. We track and work on state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) models targeting high-visibility and world-class AI leaderboards. We have previously held the top positions in a few of them, such #1 in WikiSQL, SciTail, SWAG, SNLI, SQuAD, and significant human parity achievements in both GLUE and SuperGLUE. We are seeking an experienced senior researcher to design and develop cutting-edge natural language capability for research activities, product-driven research to improve customer engagement, as well as advancing existing NLP research. We are looking for a passionate, creative, analytical individual who loves NLP, deep learning, or machine learning and wants to ship products quickly at massive scale. Some of our ongoing projects include the model adaptation in large-scale model like GPT-3 (check our work LoRA) and its applications to GPT-3-powered applications , Natural Language to code with its applications in Microsoft Power Platform and github copilot, customization and adaptation of large language models, language model pre-training, content moderation and controllable generation in generative language models, and conversation summarization. **Responsibilities** Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Alongside fellow doctoral candidates and some of the world's best researchers, interns learn, collaborate, and network for life. Interns not only advance their own careers, but they also contribute to exciting research and development strides. During the 12-week internship, students are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community. Research internships are available in all areas of research, and are offered year-round, though they typically begin in the summer. As a researcher intern, you will work with other researchers, data scientists, engineers in the team to design and build natural language models and applications with product quality. We are looking for candidates who come with very good coding skill, deep learning and NLP background, experienced in research and project management, and willing to learn and grow.
