Research Facility and Greenhouse Specialist at PrideStaff

PrideStaff is looking for a Research Facility and Greenhouse Specialist

What you will do:

• Maintain two R&D working greenhouses.
• Maintain a small R&D almond orchard.
• Routinely inspect for and treat diseases or pests in greenhouse and almond orchard.
• Helping scientists prepare experiments, schedule irrigation, and monitor plants.
• Proactively identifying weakness in the facility to prevent breakdowns that disrupt work.
• Perform routine maintenance on agronomy facilities and making repairs as needed.
• Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of greenhouses, storage, and agronomy laboratories.
• Contacting outside vendors, schedule service, complete safety permits, and check quality of completed work.
• Effectively operate the greenhouse through the computer control program through all seasons.
• Create standard operating procedures for greenhouse maintenance and operating program.
• Coordinates with landscaping crew for landscape maintenance.
• Occasional construction of research related items.
• This role may eventually expand to include some general facilities duties in the future.

 
What you will bring:

• 3+ years of maintenance, facilities, or handy-work experience; experience in greenhouse maintenance and operations highly desired.
• A.S. preferred, in agronomy, soil science, horticulture, or related field; experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Enjoy troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in which you effectively listen well to others, and accept and provide constructive feedback, suggestions, and recognition as appropriate.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and fix problems.
• Experience with forklift operation a plus.
• Experience with Wiseconn greenhouse operating program a plus.

 
We are looking for basically for someone who’s handy, ideally they have some research experience, ideally they have some greenhouse experience, but they definitely need to have agriculture experience.
