Salary: Competitive salary based on education and/or experience and $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Position:
The Associate Scientist in the R&D Department will be primarily responsible for helping the department develop, optimize, and launch new blood and cell culture supplementation products and the testing protocols required to support this activity.
In addition, the Associate Scientist will perform and develop essential laboratory procedures to fill customized client orders and accomplish research goals. The Scientist collaborates with the Research and Development Director and coordinates with other members of the R&D department and other departments. The scientist will train new staff in processes and procedures and manage technical personnel. The Associate Scientist will report to the Director of Research and Development.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a biological science or medical research discipline, experience in project management, and knowledge of the following laboratory techniques: human primary and established cell line culture, human primary immune cell isolation, flow cytometry, and ELISA. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in method development and troubleshooting and be able to learn new techniques quickly.
Qualifications:
- PhD required in one of the following biological disciplines: Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry
- 4+ years' experience in a Biomedical research laboratory (immunology/immuno-oncology preferred)
- Experience in project management
- Experience working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
- Able to handle multiple projects and adapt quickly based on departmental and organizational priorities
- Experience performing PBMC isolation, human primary T cell culture and expansion, ELISA, and flow cytometry.
- Experience working with human blood, blood products, samples, and tissue.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform research and development procedures for new blood and culture support products, including troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing procedures.
- Develop and optimize testing procedures required for the development and lot release of new blood and cell culture support products.
- Search scientific literature and other resources to assist in developing new products and techniques.
- Perform basic laboratory techniques and procedures to manufacture and test products for OBI's research and cell therapy clients (LRS chamber processing, cell isolations, new and current flow cytometry assays, new and current ELISA, etc.)
- Develop and optimize new laboratory procedures to fill R&D client product requests.
- Manage and keep the R&D laboratory in order.
- Work with other R&D staff to maintain supply inventory and order supplies and equipment.
- When needed, manage new laboratory personnel, including students, interns, and volunteers.
- Perform data analysis and tracking to assist with department directives and client requests.
- Update and consult Department leadership about ongoing projects regularly.
- Assist with research projects for the R&D department and clients.
- Serve as principal investigator on assigned projects.
- Author grants and abstracts.
- Develop package inserts and certificates of analysis for new products.
