The Washington National Primate Center has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Research Coordinator.
The Research Coordinator functions as facilitator with and communicator to project and client investigators, coordinates inter-institutional and inter-departmental arrangements and agreements, attends to scientific needs and assures completion of all requirements to ensure project success. The Research Coordinator reports directly to the Principal Investigator.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: _Research Management – 45%_
• Responsible for coordinating a multi-site research project, with collaborating investigators and their institutions.
• Collate and analyze study data to develop responses to inquiries from collaborating and client investigators and institutions, funding agencies and UW departments.
• Identifies and independently implements corrective action to resolve and correct issues in order to complete research objectives.
• Support faculty in the development and implementation of research policies, procedures, data collection methods, strategies for data management; write technical reports on the project data and data handling procedures.
• Facilitate project coordination with multiple UW departments (e.g., Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Animal Welfare, UW Tech Transfer, Grant and Contract Accounting) to ensure timely and correct implementation, progress and completion of research projects.
_Project Management – 50%_
• Serve as research project liaison, representing projects to client and collaborating investigators and institutions, funding agencies and UW departments. Prepare presentations and publications and/or assist PI’s.
• Monitor project goals, timetables and facilitate completion of research and administrative activities within project timelines.
• Collates & analyzes data and prepare complex information & materials in response to agency inquiries & compliance requirements.
• Prepare required and requested reports for Principal Investigator, UW departments and funding agencies to ensure research project progress. Prepare progress reports for sponsoring agencies and other technical reports as needed.
• Conduct program evaluations and provide regular status reports to the Principal Investigator as needed to ensure timely and correct implementation, progress and completion of research projects.
• Support preparation of comparative medicine applications, modifications and status reports. Maintain regulatory compliance and reporting. Ensure that projects comply with all requirements of the University of Washington IACUC Review Board and all relevant review boards at participating sites/communities.
• Monitoring of project budgets, to ensure that all financial allocations and expenditures are in accordance with grant/contract and UW requirements; assist with project audits, identify and implement corrective actions.
_Publications Management – 5%_
• Manage the transfer of data across sites and maintain data security and restricted access to the data.
• Establish and implement data collection, and quality control procedures for the various projects and subprojects. Identify data operational issues, and/or problems and work directly with IT staff to resolve problems as they arise.
• Independently, and in collaboration with laboratory staff, update, maintain and troubleshoot project web sites.
• Design, create and maintain databases for the project as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
• Bachelor's Degree in Biology or health-related field.
• Minimum 2 years regulatory affairs experience. _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of IACUC procedures, FDA and NIH requirements relating to research involving animal subjects.
• Experience in preclinical research processes, implementation of research protocols
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and experience with Microsoft Office.
DESIRED:
• Previous experience working with Hoverboard.
• Knowledge of University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center research processes a plus.
• Web experience, including use of Drupal, WordPress, and HTML preferred.
• Experience coordinating major events and conferences preferred.
• Proficiency across design platforms (Adobe Suite) preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Previous experience working with Hoverboard.
• Knowledge of University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center research processes a plus.
• Web experience, including use of Drupal, WordPress, and HTML preferred.
• Experience coordinating major events and conferences preferred.
• Proficiency across design platforms (Adobe Suite) preferred.
