Who we are:
The Gladstone Institutes is an independent, not-for-profit research institution. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of all people through medical research and education in neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, immunology, and stem cell biology. Home to notable leaders in science and biomedicine, Gladstone comprises five institutes as well as various centers and programs. All of its approximately 600 members are aligned in their mission to carry out or support science that overcomes disease. Located in an award-winning building at the Mission Bay Campus, Gladstone offers a competitive salary and benefits program. In the GCTA, our team is focused on developing a comprehensive human transcriptomic database in response to a diverse library of small molecule compounds to identify potential therapeutic candidates. The person will routinely analyze extensive snRNAseq data from compound-treated human neurons. Additionally, this role entails creating a searchable database for these datasets and developing algorithms to explore disease-relevant transcriptomic signatures associated with specific compounds.
The Huang lab also investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease, employing multi-omics techniques, behavioral assays, electrophysiology, and animal models. The candidate will collaborate closely with experimental biologists on diverse projects and leverage computational methods to propel these investigations. Our well-equipped infrastructure offers access to substantial experimental data and advanced computational resources to achieve research objectives.
What you will do:
Perform single cell /single nuclei RNAseq data analysis routinely using an established workflow.
Develop and optimize algorithms to screen compounds with the potential to reverse disease-relevant transcriptomic signatures.
Work closely with experimental scientists to address disease0mechnise related questions using computation approaches.
What you will need:
BS or MS in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, Mathematics, or a related field
Strong programming skills in R, Python, or other programming languages
