About the Job
The In Vivo Pathology (IVP) team within the Pathobiology department is seeking a research associate to contribute to histology and pathology workflows in support of pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology studies. This position will support drug development in diverse therapeutic areas such as inflammation, fibrosis, oncology, and virology. The successful candidate will provide scientific and technical overview for tissue-based methods that span sample processing, assay development, whole slide scanning, image QC, analysis, and data reporting. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a team; carefully follow scientific protocols and apply meticulous attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
• Compile both quantitative and quantitative histology data and prepare pathology reports.
• Work closely with project pathologists to organize, generate, and communicate pathology data.
• Curate digital pathology database to provide organized access to whole slide images.
• Support sample management and lab operation activities.
• Whole slide scanning of histology slides for pathologist review or quantitative image analysis.
Beneficial Experience (not required):
• Tissue-based procedures to include IHC and in situ hybridization.
• Hands on experience with in vivo pharmacology model workflows.
• Tissue processing of fixed tissue for histology applications.
• Digital pathology experience, including image analysis and database software.
• Experience with statistical analysis software.
• Basic histology procedures, including fixed tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an area of biological or medical science.
• 2+ years of histology lab or related experience.
• Complete working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
