An exciting opportunity is available in the Commisso lab to study pancreatic cancer for candidates with robust in-vivo expertise to assist with preclinical research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Duties and responsibilities of this position will be approximately 50% live in-vivo experimentation and 50% bench or laboratory-related.
- Perform pre-surgery preparations including shaving of mice, ear tagging, surgery area setup.
- Assist with surgeries and perform routine dosing using different routes such as PO, SC, IP, IV.
- Perform tumor measurements using caliper or ultrasound, body weight, clinical observations.
- Blood collection, tissue harvesting, necropsies.
- Perform implantation surgeries including subcutaneous and intrapancreatic.
- Support mouse breeding colony and disease models including breeding setup and genotyping.
- Perform in-vitro experiments including but not limit to cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, PCR, qPCR, Western Blotting, flow cytometry, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- Support laboratory operations including stocking supplies, inventory, and database maintenance.
- Perform general duties to support the safe and efficient operation of the laboratory as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and/or Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree along with a minimum of 3 years of experience related to working directly with laboratory animals or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained is required
- Practical experience in handling mice, including athymic nude mice and genetically engineered mouse (GEM) models.
- Familiar with in-vivo imaging techniques (such as IVIS, BLI, MRI, irradiator) is advantageous.
- Understanding of in-vivo pharmacology.
Other Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Must be flexible to work various schedules and hours including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to adapt in a dynamic team environment.
- Position requires good time management, communication skills and attention to detail.
- Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Prism, ImageJ/Fiji

Compensation:
The expected hiring range for this position is $43,703.00 - $54,629.00 commensurate with skills and experience.
