Piper Companies is looking for a Research Associate, Histology in Philadelphia, PA to support tissue-based investigations for a company looking to develop cancer cell therapy.
This position requires onsite in Philadelphia, PA Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Candidate will assume a hands on role within the histology lab and perform a variety of tasks including processing tissue specimens for immunohistochemical stains using company protocols
- Aid in management of histology area and maintain inventory and supplies
- Perform Histology-based multiplex assays on FFPE biopsy tissues from company's clinical trials
- Perform image scanning, storage and digital organization (Phenolmager HT or similar)
- Routine lab and equipment maintenance expected
- Assist in reading, reviewing and revising process improvement plans
- Review, draft, edit and approve SOPs and specifications
Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, or related field.
- Associate’s degree will be considered if candidates hold a certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologists (HTL) through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
- Hands-on experience in histopathological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtome sectioning of FFPE blocks, H&E stain, IHC, and multiplexed IF.
- Experience with florescent microscopes or scanners such as PhenoImager HT scanner and related software by Akoya Biosciences
- Some familiarity with basic statistical analysis, creating graphs using software such as Excel, TIBCO Spotfire, and Graphpad Prisim
- Hands-on experience with fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH)
- Previous experience with automated staining (e.g., Leica Bond Rx)
- Excellent organizational skills and proven experience working in a fast-paced environment.
