Release Train Engineer (RTE)
Duration: 6 months. CTH (conversion can happen as early as 3 months).
Location: Onsite (Hybrid) in McLean, VA on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Years of experience: 5+
Must Haves: A minimum of 5 years of delivery experience, this can be a mix of different areas of experience - management, development, analysis, etc. Demonstrated leadership with strong interpersonal skills. An ideal candidate would have the ability to multitask and to communicate effectively across various teams and/or business areas.
Responsibilities:
- Management and Support of Agile Delivery teams supporting and enhancing products on platforms using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, WebLogic and AWS.
- Build strong partnerships with application teams, business areas, stakeholders, and technical support teams to help drive completion of key delivery activities.
- Support and help manage application and product deployments from initiation through delivery.
- Communicating to internal team members and partners on delivery and support topics at the technical and/or functional level appropriate for the situation.
- Guidance on application of software development principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
- Understand product/business needs and actively help facilitate and participate in grooming sessions.
- Support activities related to design of Applications based on groomed features and defined architecture.
- Ensure teams comply with all organizational standards related to delivery including coding, security, infrastructure, incident management etc.
- Drive and support technical assessments to determine complexity and effort of solutions and derive team capacity plans.
- Help drive the enhancement of department application development/delivery standards, tools, and processes.
- Drive team improvement by coaching and mentoring delivery team members.
- Provide timely reporting related to products, applications, and delivery teams.
- People Management Activities including day to day management of resources, mentoring and development of teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
- 6+ years in software delivery in either hands on development or team management roles, a mix of experience in these roles is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the delivery lifecycle with experience and understanding of Agile concepts and practices.
- Strong communication skills, ability to clearly relay information to various levels of teams and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. People management experience is a preferred.
- Must have the ability to multitask with strong intellectual and interpersonal skills. Additionally, must have the ability to collaborate across various teams and must have strong communication skills.
- Innovative problem solver who likes to take on challenges with calculated risk to provide solutions.
- Technical understandings in the following areas are a plus:
- Experience and/or understanding of the following programming languages: Spring Boot, Java, JavaScript, Angular, Restful Services, SQL.
- Understanding of Node JS, Spring, AWS and Microservices.
- Technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system functionality with customer and resolve production issues.
- Understanding of DB technologies (DB2, PostgreSQL, MSSQL).
