We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Reinsurance Accountant to join our fast-growing team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in managing the financial health of our company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of reinsurance transactions and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your accounting skills and contribute to our financial success.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and record journal entries related to reinsurance transactions in accordance with GAAP and Insurance Statutory Accounting principles.
2. Analyze and reconcile reinsurance accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for reinsurance activities.
4. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of audits.
5. Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures for reinsurance operations.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all reinsurance transactions.
7. Participate in the preparation of reports for senior management and stakeholders.
8. Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance at all times.
9. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in reinsurance accounting or a related field.
4. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Insurance Statutory Accounting principles.
5. Proficient in preparing journal entries and financial statements.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
11. Strong knowledge of reinsurance contracts and practices would be an advantage.
