CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The Global Chemical Compliance Specialist is responsible for participating in governance processes that ensure compliance with chemical substance registration regulations across the globe.
This position is part of a team that provides a full spectrum of chemical substance regulatory support to business groups and functional areas from all divisions in the company including technical, R&D, marketing, product stewardship, and sales teams.
Candidate will review internal and external products and raw materials to evaluate and maintain chemical compliance in this entry-level scientific, non-laboratory position. We are looking for a team player who is self-motivated, able to maintain high quality while handling repetitive tasks, and manage multiple projects for different stakeholders.
- REGULATORY ASSESSMENT OF RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED GOODS
- Review regulatory requirements which apply to RM's and FG's across Divisions
- Gather and review of compliance information from suppliers
- Assist in product level compliance reviews as needed
- CUSTOMER SUPPORT:
- Respond routinely to internal customer inquiries
- Assist in data gathering for other team members that are responding to regulatory reporting requirements, complex customer inquiries, or certification statements
- Routine interactions with internal customers and outside suppliers
- Support all Divisions, multiple regulatory areas and multiple regions
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- FORMAL EDUCATION: (GENERALLY, IF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE IS ACCEPTABLE, THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY ONE YEAR OF COLLEGE EDUCATION REQUIRED)
- Required: Bachelor of Science (Chemistry or related field)
- KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Required:
- Minimum 1-2 years Regulatory or Compliance related experience in the Chemical Industry
- Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to handle repetitive tasks involving large amounts of data
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel
- Must be comfortable learning new and varied computer systems
- Preferred:
- Familiarity and understanding of Regulations governing chemicals, their use, environmental impact, and associated hazards in the coatings industry (ex. Chemical Inventory Control laws, REACH, GHS, etc).
- Laboratory/Formulation Experience
- Experience with existing Sherwin Williams compliance software (ex: RMDM, WERCS, HEARS)
