1. Direct and coordinate Health Care Services to ensure competent care for guests
2. Conduct continuous analysis and evaluation of services rendered
3. Assist in the development and maintenance of patient care policies, standards of practice, procedures, policies and job description
4. Coordinate Health Care Services with other departments
5. Assist in determining the staff required for Health Care Services
6. Initiate and conduct meetings of Health Care Services as they relate to the planning for guests’ care, problem solving, and interpretation of policies
7. Develop the staffing pattern required for Health Care Services
8. Assist in planning the budget for Health Care Services
9. Participate in other departmental meeting and serve on committees as requested
10. Meet with the Administrator regarding activities of the department and problems encountered
11. Work closely with physicians and consultants concerned with providing optimal care to guests
12. Work with Administration in the planning and implantation of staff development and continuing education programs
13. Work closely with Social Worker and Social services
14. Coordinate Resident Care needs with The Physical Therapy Department
15. Convey the philosophy of Health Care Services to the community.
16. Attend regular meetings as an active member of the Administrative Council
17. Participate in professional meetings
18. Keep abreast of new developments in medical science, particularly in the area of gerontology, so that changes can be affected when and where applicable.
19. Make rounds to identify nursing problems, and assist in solving them
20. Assist in evaluation of staff members
21. Request emergency medications from pharmacy and distribute them to the nursing areas
22. Obtain emergency items from Central Supply
23. Assist Administration in planning, implementing, training, and continuing education programs
24. Participate as an active member of the In-Service Education committee and assist with special programs
25. Participate in the establishment, interpretation, and implementation of Nursing Service Philosophy, objectives and policies, and recommend policy changes
26. Keep the Director of Nursing Services informed of all pertinent information in order to have sufficient information to make valid judgements and decisions.
