Bone Marrow Transplant

The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7 days per week basis.  It has 30 beds located in the Charles Lewis Pavilion.  Clinical activities include: IV therapy, blood/blood products administration (including stem cells), antineoplastic (high dose) and biotherapy administration, respiratory therapy, wound and drain care, blood glucose monitoring, pain management, supportive care, and patient and family education.

The Registered Nurse administers patient care in an area in a hospital or inpatient setting where patients have an advanced illness or injury that routinely requires timely, intense, and complex care to stabilize and support the patient’s medical condition. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills.

Education/Training

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas.

Experience

• None required, experience in an Oncology acute care position preferred.
