Functions in the key roles of a professional development specialist including educator facilitator change agent consultant researcher and leader.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years current clinical experience
- RN license - NH or other Compact State
Major Responsibilities:
1.Confers with management/staff to assess education needs related to staff competency; organizational goals; and individual development plans.
2. Develops; plans; presents and evaluates educational activities using appropriate AV resources; teaching strategies; QI techniques and other resources to engage learners in critical thinking and problem solving.
3. Actively involves the learner in the process of needs assessment and provides feedback as indicated.
4. Provides guidance to advance career development.
5. Possesses and exhibits a strong knowledge base of teaching and learning
6. Acts as a nurse planner for continuing education in accordance with ANCC.
1.Assists with strategic planning by sitting on inter/intradisciplinary teams and actively participating on these teams.
2.Serves as a role model in implementation of professional practice in the clinical setting and exhibiting a positive attitude about life long learning.
3.Facilitates an empowered environment that recognizes and responds to psychosocial; development and professional practice issues through mentoring; group support; personal consultation; team building; resource identification and networking.
1.Assists in identifying need for change within the organization then uses ppropriate strategies to modify policies; procedures; and processes as needed to effect desired change.
2.Uses influence to facilitate the initiation of; adoption of; and adaptation to change.
1.Assists in the integration of new practice through effective communication and intrapersonal relationship skills. 2.Assists individuals and groups in defining problems and identifying internal and external resources.
1.Integrates relevant research outcomes into professional practice through effective learning activities. 2.Develops management/staff knowledge and skill in using the research process to promote evidence based practice.
3.Assists staff with systematic evaluative research to improve outcomes by providing up to date literature/publications.
1.Supports organizational and administrative structures to achieve departmental and organizational goals. 2.Exhibits effective negotiation skills and organizational skills.
3.Ensures that educator's activities are congruent with the organization's mission; vision; and goals. 4.Participates in professional association; specialty organizations.
5.Responsible for own lifelong learning/professional development and maintains educational and clinical competencies appropriate to their role.
