Registered Nurse - Cayuga Health Enterprise Support System (Float Pool) - Day and Night Shifts Available - Cayuga Medical Center

Position Summary

The Chess Team registered Nurse will provide nursing care to a wide variety of patients within the Cayuga Health System. During every shift, the Chess Registered Nurse will be member of a nursing team that provides direct nursing care to a specific unit within the system. It is conceivable that a Chess Registered Nurse may start their shift in one unit and then based on a change in census and acuity be transferred or moved to a different unit to meet operational requirements. While working within a nursing unit the Chess Registered Nurse acts as a patient advocate and facilitates communication between the patient, family, and other healthcare professionals. This results I a holistic approach to planning, organizing, teaching and relationship development that best meets the needs of the patient.

Position Requirements

• NYS Licensure
• Must have 40 points as designated on the Chess Team Point Value System
• Must have BLS for all units and some may require ACLS and/or PALS
• Age Specific care of patients
• Clinical competence in medication administration
• Demonstrates an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities
• Excellent organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multi-task and solve problems
• Experience with CHS computer system
• Will be designated to train and work in various areas of facility providing safe & therapeutic patient care
• Must comply with all standards of behavior
• Requires excellent communication skills, pleasant demeanor and positive attitude
• Able to work well with others in a teamwork environment

Primary Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing plan considering the patient and family's individual, cultural, ethnic, and religious values and beliefs
• Evaluate nursing care on an ongoing basis and revising the plan of care as appropriate
• Utilize the nursing process as a basis for providing and evaluating nursing care applying knowledge of growth and development, pathophysiology, spiritual and cultural needs and family dynamics in delivery of nursing and inter-professional care
• Deliver care in a non-judgmental and nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to and values diversity
• Provide patient education for diagnostic procedures, medical conditions and treatment plans
• Provide nursing care utilizing defined competencies and skills to areas assigned.

Final pay determination will be based upon, market, experience, specialty, and licensure/certification where applicable.
