Healthcare Staffing Professionals is looking for a full-time Registered Dental Assistant to work in Los Angeles, CA. Candidates must have 1 year experience working at a clinic. These positions function both as dental chair and office assistants, passing instruments, preparing compounds, taking and processing X-Rays, assisting in taking impressions, scheduling new and return patients, preparing patient records and utilizing a computer database system to retrieve and input patient information. Dental Assistants utilize a basic knowledge of standard dental practices, procedures, and terminology; of dental instruments, equipment, and materials and their uses; of X-Ray taking and of OSHA standards of sterility and handling of infectious waste.

Job Duties:
- Performs data collection through observation and/or conversation with the patient/significant other for Nursing Intake.
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight, and intake and output.
- Communicates observation and changes in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Documents consistent with the Department of Nursing Standards.
- Prepares patient and the exam room for dentist and OMFS surgeon by seating patient properly and having anticipated instruments/cassettes/equipment ready.
- Assists dentist and OMFS surgeon at the chair side with Time Out, suctioning, handing instruments, tracking instruments, clean the exam room before and after the procedure.
- Keeps Dental lab organized and clean. Prepares dental materials for impressions and fillings using standard practice under guidance of dentist and OMFS surgeon.
- Operates dental radiographic machine/scanner to take intra-oral, periapical, bite wing, occlusive, extra-oral panographic images of the head, teeth, jaw, as directed by the dentist or OMFS surgeon.
- Cleans and sterilizes reusable instruments/cassettes following established policies and procedures.
- Provides care in consideration of the emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Assists in admission, transfer and discharge procedures. Participates in the teaching of the patient and/or family in health care.
- Performs related clerical duties as assigned.
- Delivers and records specimen (such as biopsy) delivery to the lab.
- Provides a safe and clean environment and reports problems to the Registered Nurse.
- Receives and puts away stock supplies.
- Makes and document reminder phone calls.
- Performs other patient care activities assigned by the Registered Nurse.
- Applies universal precautions in all settings.
- Follows hospital and nursing policies and procedures.
- Maintains a courteous and helpful relationship with patients, public and co-workers.
- Attends In service Education Programs as assigned to maintain current skills, and to learn new skills and new treatment procedures.
- Adheres to the Department of Nursing Dress Code.
- Maintains the standard for attendance and observation of work hours.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- CA Registered Dental Assistant
- Minimum one year experience
- Radiation Safety Certification
