Position Overview:The Regional Nursery Manager delivers a great customer experience/journey at nursery branches. The Regional Nursery Manager is responsible for communicating merchandising, operational standards and growth plans to branch team members. They are an integral part of the collection and sharing of competitive feedback to Divisional Leadership, the Regional Leadership teams and the Regions Area Managers. The Regional Nursery Manager will focus their efforts on localized assortments based on the geographic area and demands.
What you will do:
- Communicate and assist in implementation of the strategic plan to grow profit and margin in the nursery product line and deliver a great customer experience at nursery branches.
- Assist the Director of Nursery Category Management with marketing plans and their implementation.
- Provide training and direction to key nursery leadership within their region on Operations Excellence including, but not limited to: merchandising, nursery layout, yard signage, inventory management, MobilePro, capital projects, and yard maintenance.
- Perform regular branch visits to evaluate inventory, sales operations, operating standards, and provide staffing assessments using the newly developed Staffing Model.
- Drive pricing strategy within each local market working with area leadership and procurement to attain margin goals.
- Train area leadership on nursery objectives and standards, helping to recruit, hire, train, and influence nursery talent within the region.
- Provide guidance on procurement tasks including product mix, KVI items, supplier selection, market pricing, seasonal forecast reviews, and direction on bid/quote activity.
- Communicate nursery priorities to field leaders including timely communication on nursery calendar events as well as potential impact to nursery material due to weather events.
- Support, facilitate, and communicate field support strategies and initiatives.
- Regional Nursery Manager is an expert on local markets understanding trends, competition, market pricing, and nursery business requirements by market and drives local initiatives and strategy.
- Attend Regional/Divisional management meetings and provide product line analysis and support of the field support strategy.
- Reinforce company safety standards as well as helping create safety standards that are unique to nursery operations.
- Report directly to RVP and provides single point of contact for nursery product business needs and analysis.
- Understanding of operations. Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
- Knowledge of nursery products are a must.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information as well as lead/facilitate discussions across various levels of stakeholders
- Pricing Strategy and Procurement expert (Mix, Forecast, Quoting), Staffing Model implementation/expert.
- Ability to lead and/or co-lead process improvement projects
- High standard of integrity and reliability; able to build trust & loyalty with others
- Ability to train Nursery Leaders, recruit, build benchmark and develop staffing metrics.
- Expert on Local Markets, understanding of marketing principles to drive local initiatives/strategy
- Business Metrics knowledge: Gross Margin Goals, WPS, KVI’s (measure by overrides)
Education and Experience:
- Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Nursery Operations and nursery excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
