Regional Medical Director, in partnership with an Executive Director, is responsible for the operational, financial, and clinical performance of clinical teams (PODS) across assigned region in accordance with the business strategy, vision, mission and values of HarmonyCares Medical Group. Work is in constant service to the quintuple aim and diligent pursuit of clinical excellence. Position will develop and maintain close working relationships with all clinical and operational team members in service area. Work will be completed in close partnership with key stakeholders including but not limited to POD Leaders, Executive Directors, Local Practice Managers, General Managers, Regional Chief Medical Officers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and leadership for Physician POD Leaders, including but not limited to recruitment, retention, performance management, onboarding.
- Assist POD Leaders with Clinical Performance at the POD level, including but not limited to quality, patient experience, ADDM, total cost of care/institutional utilization.
- Assist POD Leaders with POD management, including but not limited to recruiting, retention and performance management of POD teammates.
- Work as a Dyad Partner with Executive Directors: to ensure financial performance goals and operational goals are achieved/exceeded and to participate in daily operational management of offices within region.
- Supervise and participate in high-risk huddles
- Build team-based culture
- Work collaboratively with care management team
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy team
- Regularly conduct 1-1s with POD Leaders, individual contributor clinicians, and Executive Directors.
- Assist Regional CMO with market performance and clinical initiatives
- Assists with service recovery, resolution of patient complaints
- Function as EMR “super-user” and assist market clinicians to help improve workflows and operational efficiency
- Assist Regional CMO in EMR enhancement and improvement initiatives
- Responsible for providing in-home primary care services to patients
- Duties as assigned by the Regional CMO and/or CMO

The Regional Medical Director provides clinical oversight and leadership to primary care medical groups located in:
- Ohio (Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, Youngstown, Toledo)
- Kentucky (Lexington)
The selected candidate must reside in (or near) one of the above locations and will frequently travel amongst all sites.
The Regional Medical Director will engage in direct patient care in addition to providing clinical leadership ensuring quality and desired clinical outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- MD or DO from accredited medical school
- Active medical license
- 5+ years of experience in hospice care, palliative care, or home-based primary care
- Experience in medical leadership and clinical innovation expected
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Active CPR Certification
- Completed an accredited residency program
- ABMS or AOA board certification
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 1+ years of leadership/supervisory experience
- Experience caring for patients in their home setting
