Position Overview:The Regional Inventory Manager works with the Regional Vice President, Area Sales Management, and Category Management as the lead for inventory fulfillment and forecasting for the region. The manager develops the consensus forecast that is critical in achieving sales and profitability, desired customer service levels, and inventory performance goals, while demonstrating business acumen, exceptional customer service, strong analytical skills, and detailed knowledge of demand planning applications. The manager serves as the primary point of contact for the region they support, ensuring branches within the region have the correct inventory levels based on market demand, impacting $30-40 million in inventory by ensuring appropriate fill rates are met in order to fulfill customer demand.
KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
- Lead regional strategy and execution of key targets for Inventory, Replenishment, Fill Rates, and Distribution Centers for the assigned Region, serving as a key point of contact for field leadership
- Drive improvement on Regional fill rates
- Leverage all forecasting and inventory planning tools (Blue Yonder Demand, Fulfillment, and Order Optimization) available to achieve and exceed customer service level targets for assigned Region
- Reduce and eliminate stock outs on key items by improving forecast accuracy
- Manage the weekly forecast process, including development and maintenance of the baseline statistical forecast
- Recognize and resolve forecasting exceptions, optimize forecast fit
- Review demand history for outliers and develop recommendation on how to treat them. Manage software settings related to outliers.
- Identify and lead the implementation of opportunities to improve forecast accuracy.
- Optimize inventory planning and buying parameters for assigned Region to drive highest levels of service
- Quickly respond to and resolve all urgent customer backorder needs for assigned Region
- Monitor reporting and proactively work to prevent stock outs from DC
- Partner with Buyers, other Branches, or DC to find the optimal solution (purchase order or transfer) to quickly cover any shortages
- Support the Regional field teams and leverage local market intelligence by building and maintaining a process for developing and documenting new product forecasts and inventory assumptions
- Ensure right breadth and depth of products for branches by collaborating with category management team and regional vice presidents to meet and anticipate customer demand
- Hold weekly Area forecast planning meetings, or S&OP meetings. Work with Sales to determine trends, identify new products, new customers and evaluate risks
- Manage agreed upon adjustments / overrides to the statistical forecasts based on market intelligence
- Explain the forecast and develop consensus. Identify major issues affecting the accuracy of the forecast.
- Assist in new product launches, market expansions, SKU life-cycle management, and product supersession.
- Manage Regional inventory
- Partner with Inventory Management and Buying to drive performance to target on inventory goals for assigned Region
- Drive reduction in Excess and Dead inventory for assigned Region
- Excellent follow up, customer service, and project management skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to interact with management team, including senior management
- Experience working with JDA planning software
- Four-year university degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance
- Statistical analysis skills and experience working with very large data sets
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Supply Chain areas such as forecasting, demand planning
- Experience with spreadsheet tools and demand planning software such as JDA Demand and Fulfillment
