This is a full-time, entry-level apprenticeship designed to prepare candidates for a future as a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic Journeyman within our company. The Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic Apprentice will perform maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment specifications
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and document findings
- Troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities
- Assist with inventory tracking and reporting for HVAC supplies and parts
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and assist in emergency repairs
- Participate actively in safety and skills training as directed
- Comply with safety standards, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements
- Perform general site clean-up and organization tasks as directed by the supervisor
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within an industrial setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry-standard HVAC certifications or licenses - EPA Section 608, OSHA
- 1-2 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment
- Familiarity with HVAC safety standards and procedures
