Referrals Coordinator Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referrals Coordinator to join our team. The Referrals Coordinator will be responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing patient referrals to ensure timely and efficient coordination of care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and processing incoming referral requests from patients, providers, and external sources
- Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining authorization for referrals as needed
- Communicating with patients to schedule appointments with specialists or other healthcare providers
- Coordinating with providers to ensure necessary documentation is received for each referral
- Monitoring the status of referrals and ensuring follow-up appointments are scheduled and completed
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic health record systems
- Collaborating with clinical staff and other departments to coordinate care for patients
- Providing excellent customer service to patients and providers to address any questions or concerns related to referrals
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, and be familiar with medical terminology and insurance procedures. Experience working in a healthcare setting and knowledge of referral processes is preferred.
