Pay Rate: $20.50/hr
Shift: Part-Time, Contract/Temporary
Entech Staffing is seeking a Reference Librarian for a position at a local educational institution in Flint, MI. This is a part-time, contract/temporary role. Candidate will work about 19 hours a week with some weekend hours required.
The part-time reference librarian will provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, staff, and others utilizing the library, using a variety of electronic and print resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide research/reference assistance to students at the library reference desk and virtually.
Perform collection development duties as assigned to include ordering books, weeding, inventory, and maintaining assigned subject areas.
Serve as a liaison to assigned academic departments to be a point of contact between the library and faculty.
May provide library instruction, including introductions to library resources to assigned classes as requested.
Create and maintain LibGuides for assigned subject areas or classes.
Participate in reference and staff meetings.
Requirements:
A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution is preferred or significant course work in reference services.
One year experience as an academic reference librarian or cataloger.
Reference librarians must have knowledge of and facility with online library catalog systems, reference resources, and online databases.
Technical services, including a thorough knowledge of cataloging principles and practices, current standards, and formats.
Ability to work effectively and interdependently in a diverse academic environment.
Ability to work as an active team participant within the library and on campus.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on providing good user service.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in providing resources to students in distance learning environments.
Demonstrated proficiency in the development of print and web-based instructional materials for courses, orientation sessions, workshops, tutorials, and information pathfinders.
Experience processing Interlibrary Loan or MeLCat requests.
Archives experience, such as creating finding aids or digitizing materials.
Experience in a community college library setting.
