Description
Responsible for providing administrative and project coordination services for the Community Redevelopment Agency management, downtown redevelopment management, redevelopment incentives, neighborhood redevelopment, housing projects, and horizontal and vertical construction projects. The coordinator reports directly to the CRA Director and Project Managers. Provides administrative assistance to CRA Executive Director, Director, and Project Managers. Attends CRA Board, Advisory Committee meetings, and community meetings as needed. Assists with the management and implementation of redevelopment plans for various projects; Facilitates redevelopment projects by coordinating with private developers and business owners. Interact with community groups, residents, and business owners to ensure the CRA projects are well communicated; Compile databases and relevant planning and economic information; Assist in preparing developer and tenant real estate packages. Assist in the preparation of Requests for Proposal. Receives and reviews various documents, including vacancy surveys, new occupational licenses, development site plans, property sales, creative copy graphics, newsletters, invoices, etc. Prepares and presents agenda items for presentation to CRA Board and Advisory Committees as needed. Assists in the preparation of project budgets. Performs related work as required. Must have reliable form of transportation to and from work.
Typical QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business, urban planning, finance, construction management or related field and/or have a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the public/private sector in a progressive city in real estate development, planning, project coordination, economic development and/or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Government experience and knowledge of intergovernmental operations and the redevelopment process a plus. Being able to bridge between the private sector and public sector is critical. Ability to be in the field for work-related tasks as needed. Possess a valid Florida driver's license. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must have a high level of energy and persistence and passion towards the mission of the Agency. Ability to express ideas, facts, and information in a clear and concise manner, verbally and in writing, personable and friendly disposition and a positive can-do attitude with individuals or groups. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and information, and to formulate conclusions and recommendations, using independent judgment. Ability to plan and organize effective educational and informational programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling, sitting, and pulling.

Employees are paid biweekly. The pay range consists of a minimum and maximum salary. Initial appointment is usually made at the minimum salary of the pay range, but a higher salary may be considered for an especially well qualified candidate or to meet unusual needs. Annual merit increases of up to 3% up to the maximum of the pay range are based on fully effective job performance, or above, and are not automatic. Eligible Fire department combat employees receive annual merit increases of up to 4%.
Group health insurance is paid for by the City; 100% for full time employees and 50% for eligible dependents.
Paid leave includes: Vacation - accrue nine (9) days annually with additional days awarded for longevity; Sick Leave - accrue twelve (12) days annually; Holidays - thirteen (13) days off; Personal Days - two personal days after six months of service.
Pension plan: General Employees' Retirement System participation is required for all eligible employees. Each employee contributes a tax deferred deduction of 10% of their salary to the plan and the City contributes a like amount. The defined benefit pension plan is based on the average of the last three base salary years times 3% times years of service. If an employee leaves the employ of the City prior to seven (7) year vesting or retirement, their contribution, with interest, is refundable. Fire pension participants contribute 11.6% and are required to participate in the Pompano Beach Police & Firefighters' Retirement System.
Other benefits offered to City employees include: cost of living adjustments (when applicable), tuition reimbursement, tax deferred savings plan, credit union services, direct deposit, sick leave bank, sick leave to vacation conversion, employee assistance program, Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP), Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Account (VEBA), and a four day work week for certain positions.
Part time employees are not eligible for benefits and benefits may vary depending on bargaining units.
