About the Job
This position is responsible for planning specific areas of recreation programming for the City of O'Fallon.MAJOR DUTIES Plans, develops and supervises a variety of recreational activities and programs in their specific area. Hires, trains, schedules, evaluates, disciplines and supervises part-time personnel. Greets visitors and answers telephone; provides information and assistance. Researches, gathers data, and prepares reports. Enters and maintains program participant data and files. Registers program or class participants. Coordinates volunteer needs with Volunteer Services. Supervises the operations of the recreation complex when assigned. Serves as liaison to community organizations, schools and external service providers. Orders and purchases supplies and equipment for specific programs. Responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns. Assists in the development and administration of assigned budgets. Develop bids for all program related items, assist in bid development for all capital equipment as needed. Develops and distributes manuals, rules, announcements, and flyers. Transports groups and individuals to and from events, as assigned. Works Manager on Duty shifts as required. Performs related duties. Position Specific Athleticso Manage the planning and implementation of all sports.o Manage the field rentals at City athletic complexes.o Assist with the utilization of Rec Trac. Office and Membership SpecialistManages Renaud Center Memberships.Attends meetings of the Parks and Recreation Board; records minutes; prepares agendas.Composes correspondence and reports including the Department's monthly and yearly report.Maintains department files and databases; establishes new files and databases.Manage the utilization of RecTrac department wide.Issues special event permits for park usage as appropriate.Coordinates all Departmental employee related activities, including department personnel files, evaluations, PAF's, payroll and disciplinary action.Assist with the day-to-day operations of the front desk operations at the Renaud Center, City Hall and Pool Cashiers.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Knowledge of recreation program development and implementation. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Knowledge of the management of recreation facilities and equipment. Knowledge of city policies and procedures, including purchasing and budgeting procedures. Skill in the supervision of personnel. Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine. Skill in interpersonal relations. Knowledge of city payroll processMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to three years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain certification in CPR. Certified Parks and Recreation professional preferred. Office and Membership Recreation software experience preferred
